How Do I Volunteer?

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Dearborn County 4-H Volunteer.  The program would not be successful without the time, talent, knowledge and dedication provided by our program volunteers.

In order for you to become an officially screened volunteer you must:
  • Complete a volunteer application and provide three references.  You may complete the application online and return to the Extension Office, or complete, print and mail to the Extension Office at 229 Main Street, Aurora, IN 47001.
  • Sign the permission to complete the background check form and return with application.
  • Sign and return the Behavioral Expectations form and return with application.
  • Provide a copy of your government issued identification, such as drivers’ license.
  • Return a signed copy of the Volunteer Role description.

Once you have been approved as a volunteer, you will receive a letter from the Extension Office, welcoming you to the Dearborn County 4-H program!  At this point, you go to 4-H online (www.in.4honline.com) and either 1) create a new profile, or 2) list yourself as a volunteer in your family profile, and indicate your volunteer title (club leader, project leader, Specie chair or Assistant, board member, committee member etc.)  Expect to have your status on 4-H online change from “pending” to “active” within a week, if not a day or two.  When your status is “active”, you then need to complete the minority safety training, available on 4-H online under the training tab, in blue and at the top left of the screen.  If you would prefer to complete the minority training face-to face, I am happy to oblige.  Just call me to arrange a time.
  • Complete 4-H online entry as volunteer.
  • Complete the Minority Safety training located on 4-H online.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a 4-H Volunteer and I look forward to working with you in the future!

Sincerely,
